Make an Instant Impact
At For Others, we specialize in long-term solutions to end the child welfare crisis in America. We believe a Well-Being Support Ecosystem must be in place to take families from crisis to thriving, creating a collective impact at the local level. At the same time, however, we recognize the need for immediate relief when kids and families face a crisis. In response, we created our Instant Impact initiative to provide time-sensitive help in urgent situations, and it’s all made possible because of you! How We Make an Instant Impact
During Instant Impact, we choose real, verified needs to fulfill across the country. We do this through one of our partner organizations, CarePortal, who created a groundbreaking care-sharing platform for caseworkers to submit urgent needs for kids and families. Anyone can fulfill these needs, and local churches connect with the recipient to deliver them. The goal is to build a long-term, supportive relationship with the family. In this way, kids and families get a lasting community to walk with them.
Instant Impact donations go directly to fulfilling these needs, helping realize our mission to end the child welfare crisis in America, one family at a time. Each of these needs prevents a child from entering foster care; helps reunify a child with their birth family; assists a foster or kinship family; or aids a youth aging out of care without a support system. Past, Present, and Future Impact
To date, our incredible For Others Collective (you!) has met critical needs across the country. Because of you, we:
- Funded major repairs to a grieving family’s only bathroom to keep their children from foster care
- Sent gift cards to buy essentials for a family who lost everything in a fire
- Helped a young woman leave gang activity behind and paid for tattoo removal for her protection
- Purchased a computer for a young mom pursuing higher education to provide for her 6-month-old
- Supplied two beds for a sibling pair moving into kinship placement
- Bought groceries for a kinship placement taking in a 6-year-old girl
- Replaced an HVAC for a foster family with multiple asthmatic children
- Provided a bed and clothes for a grandson moving in with his grandmother for kinship care
- Purchased a changing table, double stroller, and more for a foster family welcoming two siblings under 2 years old
