Join The Village: What $20 a Month Can Do

Twenty dollars might not feel like much. But month after month, it helps keep a child out of foster care. It helps a family get out of crisis. It helps a community wrap around the people near them who need it most.

That’s the heart of The Village, For Others’ new monthly giving community. Village members commit $20 a month to help end the child welfare crisis, and together, that steady support becomes something families can count on.

What is The Village?

The Village is a community of monthly donors who each give at least $20 a month to For Others. It’s a simple way to care for children and families consistently, all year long.

You’ve likely heard that it takes a village to raise a child. For children and families facing hardship, that village might include a caseworker, a foster family, a local church, a neighbor who shows up with groceries, and a mentor who stays.

At For Others, we believe everyone has a role to play. As our founder Chris Tomlin often says:

Not everyone is called to foster or adopt, but everyone is called to care.

Chris Tomlin, Founder of For Others

The Village gives that calling a steady rhythm. You don’t need to open your home or change your career to make a difference. You only need to decide that vulnerable children and families in your community are worth showing up for, month after month.

Why monthly giving matters

A family’s needs don’t show up once a year or one at a time. A parent loses a job. A child moves into a new foster home with nothing but the clothes they’re wearing. A teenager ages out of care with no one to call. Consistent needs call for consistent support.

Steady support helps For Others and our partners plan ahead, respond faster, and invest in solutions that last. Instead of waiting to see what comes in, we can say yes to families quickly and confidently. You can always see how gifts are put to work in our annual reports.

What your monthly gift helps make possible

Twenty dollars a month doesn’t fix one family’s hard week. It becomes part of the steady support For Others and our partners count on to keep showing up for children and families across the country.

Your monthly gift…

None of that happens in a single month, and none of it happens alone. Neglect, which is often tied to poverty, is the most common reason children enter foster care. When a community is around a family before the crisis peaks, kids are far more likely to stay safely at home.

That’s the work your gift keeps moving. For Others serves state leaders and supports best-in-class partners to create a Well-Being Support Ecosystem™ to keep families together, recruit and support foster families, and empower local churches and communities to meet real, verified needs.

Village members help fuel that work every single month.
